You may have noticed that the exterior of St. Matthews is beginning to look a little rough. The trustees have been hard at work researching various paint companies to give the outside of the building a beautiful fresh look. This is important, not only for appearance, but for the maintenance of our facility. The Trustees have reviewed all the options and elected to go with a more “high end” product. Most painters will not warranty an older building like ours. As a rule, a regular exterior paint will last 3 to 5 years on a building like ours. However, the trustees have contracted with a company that uses a special process to prep and coat the building that they guarantee for 25 years. The cost is about twice what other companies charge, but with the warranty, the trustees and church council are in agreement that this is the better long term investment. The process will cost about $25,000. The trustees have about $5000 already set aside for the painting. To meet the additional need, we are seeking to raise the additional $20,000 through a “mini-fund drive”. If each of us does what God leads us to, we are confident that we can meet this $20,000 need and more. If there is any additional funding beyond what is needed for the painting, it will be applied to other important interior building improvements at St. Matthews. For example, we hope to replace some of the carpeting, repair cracks in the sanctuary, renovate the rest rooms, and more. This mini-fund drive will run from July 1 to Jan 1 (6 months). If you are able, we would ask you to make a special pledge for this 6 month period. If you could pledge an additional $10 or $20 a week for those 6 months, it would enable us to make some significant improvements in our facility.
